History

Then - 2006

Marshalltown Christian School is a 501c3 non-profit, non-denominational Christian school serving the Marshalltown community since 2006. Its small beginnings began in a living room where a group of people’s hearts was stirring with a dream of a Christian school in Marshalltown, where children would be free to pray and talk openly about the one and only true God, the One who lead the establishment of this great nation. The school opened its doors by renting space at New Hope Christian Church with three grades and 10 students. It now serves grades Kindergarten – 8th and enrollment continues to grow. MCS’s firm foundation of “Glorifying God through Biblical, Christ-centered education, providing academic excellence, and preparing students for service and leadership,” offers academically sound Christ-centered education in a safe environment.

Now - 2016

For the first three years MCS rented space at New Hope Christian Church until it outgrew the available rooms. Then, Evangelical Free Church welcomed the school and MCS rented space from them for the next three years. God blessed MCS with funds to purchase 9 acres of land on South 7th Avenue at the end of the 2011-2012 school year and the campaign began to raise funds to build its own school. Evangelical Free Church began a construction project of their own in the summer of 2012 and MCS needed to find a new place to rent until the new school could be built. MCS again leased space from New Hope while the new school came to be. The capital campaign began in 2013 to raise funds for the new building. It would take another two and one half years for the school to be finished. In January 2016 the first classes were held in the new building. In 2016 the school celebrates its 10th anniversary.
